Pictured here is a rare photo of young Burgercards ripping Neo Revelation booster packs on christmas! I remember getting a holo Delibird, Suicune and Raikou non holo. I still have them to this day!
When Pokémon launched I collected on the school playground and got a few boosters, it was always exciting to open! I am a collector at heart and started young. I also played the gameboy games when they came out, and liked the games very much. I stopped collecting Pokémon around EX Dragon cirka 2005 having missed a few sets and then "growing out" of it. One of my fondest cards from childhood-collecting is a unlimited Neo Genesis Lugia and unlimited Shining Mewtwo from Neo Destiny.
Before Pokémon I had a few Magic the gathering cards and hockey cards, so the concept of booster packs and collecting in binders was established even before Pokémon.
Today I am a seasoned veteran having completed the majority of sets I had cards of when young. I never stopped liking Pokémon cards during the long period when I didnt collect. Also, I never stopped playing the games, so when I finally got back into collecting around 2020 I had a urge of catching up and reclaiming what had passed me by during the years.
Getting back to pokemon card collecting during the pandemic and onwards has been amazing. I got pulled back in and really found a lost comfort zone. I think alot of people can relate to how easy it is to tap into a nostalgic and familiar feeling with pokemon cards!
